Linh's Restaurant

Since moving to the Dayton area, Chris and I have been regularly visiting Linh's Restaurant for our Vietnamese food fix. Linh's is quite the gem for a not-so-culturally-diverse area. They serve a mix of Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine, but I'm certain most people order Vietnamese food here. We normally order Phở bò tái (rice noodle soup with beef slices) as our main dish, but this time I wanted to shake it up a bit....And I'm glad I did.

We each devoured an order of fresh spring rolls (Gỏi cuốn) as starters. These spring rolls are by far the best I have ever had, only because instead of perilla leaves, they put in cilantro. Each roll has a shrimp sliced in half layered inside the rice wrapping.

Then Chris had his usual Phở bò tái.

And I normally order the Phở, too, but this time I was curious about their Cơm Tay Cầm...

This dish is served in a piping hot clay pot and the rice at the bottom of the pot cooks to the point of a crunchy consistency. Along with the rice, you get marinated chicken, beef, shrimp, Vietnamese sausage, peas in pods, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green onions, and cilantro. This was so good I may never want to order Phở again so long as this dish is available!

Just as we were slipping into a food coma, we decided to consume a few hundred more calories by hitting up Rita's. I tried out their Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice with Vanilla custard "Misto" and while it was yummy, it could never hold a candle to their Mango ice and Vanilla custard combination.

What do you think about Vietnamese food? What's your favorite dish? What's your opinion about Rita's?

My Very First Blog!

Hey Folks!

I'm excited to try out this blogging thing.  It's clearly been a popular hobby for so many people - so I thought I'd give it a go!  I'm still uncertain as to what would be my main topic for discussion, but I guess I'll start out with a few interesting things about me as I go :)

First, I would LOVE to talk about how much I love my husband, Chris.  He's pretty much the handsomest, funniest, and most charming man I know!  Not to mention he's wicked smart!  You ladies better keep your dirty mitts off him ^.~

Many friends and family keep asking if and when we'll have children.  My answer is always:  "NEVER!"  I've never been the kind of gal to have any sort of interest in having kids.  They seem to be high-maintenance and I lack the kind of patience to raise a child without losing my temper. I'm not sure if my husband is truly on the same boat, but for now, he's more than glad to be child-free LOL!

Speaking of kiddos...We have two of the most amazing fur-babies!  One is a black lab/pit bull mix and the other is a dachshund.  They are the goofiest, laziest, most affectionate dogs on this planet (I know that's a biased statement, but they're my babies)!!!

What can I say?  My family is awesome!!!  The only thing I would change is to add another puppy to the madness.  BUT I know my current woofaroos would be utterly jealous of a new member (plus, I think Chris would lose his mind).

Anyhow, I am currently finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and in a few years, I am hoping to complete my Master of Science in Enterprise Software Development.  It's going to be a lot of work, I know, but I'm tryin'!

So now that I've given you a quick rundown about me, let me know what you think!  Is there anything else you'd like to know?  What should I blog about?  GIMME SOME FEEDBACK!...Pweeeez??  :D
